“MindtheData – Creating a culture of data protection among SMEs” is a European project funded by the Erasmus + program of the European Commission, implemented and coordinated by the Yambol Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The project is implemented in a consortium of seven partners from Bulgaria, Greece, Cyprus, Spain and Poland. It aims to support European small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) compliance procedures with the EU’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
By providing a set of tools available and maintained by professionals with experience in data protection procedures, the project seeks to help European SMEs fully integrate personal data protection principles into their organizational culture, mainly as useful tool and not as a strictly defined compliance element.
Looking beyond the concept of ‘compliance or punishment’, the GDPR can be used by SMEs in different ways. For example, to provide innovative ways to use data, to develop internal policies that lead to transparency and trust of customers, allowing businesses to win loyal customers and above all – to create a cultural change on “how to doing business ”.
